When the ABTA was reformed last year, the following were “elected” unopposed.

Nick Hughes – Secretary / Treasurer
These are temporary positions. There will be a proper AGM, planned for Canberra in January 2027.

A bit of history
The ABTA was formed in 1986 on the instigation of Jean Hudson.
Past Presidents include
Ron Klinger, John Roberts, Paul Marston,
Derrick Browne, Paul Lavings, Linda O’Shea, Lorraine Lindsay.
In 2013, the ABF instigated the role of National Teaching Coordinator, with Joan Butts filling that role.
The ABTA went into hiatus, to emerge in 2026 when the ABF decided to devolve the coordination of bridge teaching to the State Associations .
The ABTA has a national role, to consult and advise teachers, clubs and and State Associations. To that end, our activities will include
- Conducting national Webinairs
- Arranging State-based face-to-face seminars (state-based)
- The newsletter
- Maintaining this website
- Promoting teaching tours
- Maintaining contact with teachers via our list of members.
